The phrase “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” is not always true, especially when you’re young. As a parent, it’s important to choose your words carefully. And sometimes, even if you think you are being careful, you may still be saying some unintentionally harmful things. Here are five words and phrases that, although often used without a second thought, can be detrimental to the development and confidence of an LGBTQ child.
